2.5 Legal Regulation Issues

In metaverse platforms, crimes similar to real-world offenses may occur, but there are no established criteria for applying legal jurisdiction. This could lead to violations of basic human rights, intellectual property infringements, and issues arising from technological advancements across various domains. Intellectual property infringement includes copyright, trademark, and the recognition of public rights for avatars. Metaverse users are both consumers and creators, so there is a need to grant copyright to users who create and develop content, which often results in complex legal disputes. While metaverse operators typically grant a comprehensive license for 'use' or 'service' of user-created content, minor disputes still persist. Establishing regulations that do not hinder technological advancements is essential.
